Get the attention of others if you want to make money online. You have products to sell and services to offer, but in order to sell those, people must know that you exist. One of the best ways to do this is to create content that goes viral. The creation of viral content is not an exact science. A lot of what goes viral does so simply based on the whim of a single individual. Obviously, there are ways that you can increase your chances of getting noticed. You don't know if you will go viral, but this shouldn't mean that you won't try to improve your chances. Here are a few things you can try.
Don't forget to 'tag' your information, content, etc when you publish it. You probably already realize that tags are used in places other than on a blog. You can add meta tags to every web page you create. Tags tell search engines and properties like Technorati how to classify your work and make sure that it is seen by the people who will appreciate it the most. It's really easy to use tags, and they will help you acquire more traffic from social sites, directories, and search engines. Your ranks can get better, and you'll get more views, but your content will only become viral if it's interesting enough, or causes controversy.
Don't let a lot of time lapse between your first round of viral content and your next release. This is serious marketing time - so don't say anything silly, cheesy, or cheap. This will entail doing more, and more often, because you never want to bore your audience. We all know what happens when you make people wait too long or they forget about us. Work on getting something into place, maybe a newsletter, and only then you can take a slight, short break. Ok, but before you reach that particular point, you'll be smart to work on keeping them engaged every day.
Here's one for you - pretend to be clueless about something.
Of course you can do the opposite and just say upfront that you're 100% dumb about whatever it is. Naturally, there's nothing wrong at all with asking for help and telling people you don't know. People are not always easy to fool, and they'll see that you really are clueless or ignorant, and they'll comment in some way, or offer some kind of help. But again, you can just pretend and then put some offending comments in your content. It's not hard to see this being done all the time. Just be prepared to live with whatever it is you say.
This is not any kind of an exact science, though. This is due to no one being able to know what will become viral, or not. But you know, there's so much you can do to create interesting content on relevant topics. However, just hoping something happens will not produce anything for you. So just remember that it's really not much to do in order to give your content a fighting chance at going viral. You could be the next huge news on the net.
